  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder or to taste {optional}
  • {12/ teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste, and 1/2 teaspoon garlic paste for boiling chicken}

Step 1. 

Boil chicken and keep aside. Grind the boiled chicken along with the water into a puree.

Step 2.

Heat oil in a pan, add ginger paste, garlic paste, and onions, and fry for 1 minute till it turns golden brown.

Step 3.

Add chicken puree, coriander powder, chili powder, salt, and curry powder, and mix well.

Step 4.

Add carrots, chilies, and celery {optional}and cook for 2 minutes till carrots are tender-crisp.

Step 5. 

Stir often to avoid sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Step 6.

Add yogurt and lemon juice and mix well till all the ingredients are dissolved in the batter.

Step 7.

Pour the mixture into the baking tray and gently press it down using a plate or your hand.

Leave it for 10 minutes for it to set well.

  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 level teaspoon yeast
  • 3 teaspoons of oil {optional}

Cover the dough with a moist cloth and keep for 1-2 hours or till it doubles in size.

Shape into a loaf and place it on a greased bread tray.

Step 5.

Cover with a moist cloth and keep for an hour to rise.

Step 6.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees C for 20 minutes.

Remove from the baking tray and brush garlic butter on the top of the loaf.  Cool down completely before serving.

Note:

You can also prepare the filling the previous night and refrigerate it to start making the caterpillar bread early in the morning and have fresh homemade caterpillar bread on time.

The cooked chicken should be cool enough to touch and easy to grind into a fine paste. It might turn lumpy while grinding it into a paste if it is still warm.
